Welcome to the commencement of our cigar blog. We are hoping that our website and blog serve as a portal for other like-minded individuals that enjoy the art of cigar smoking. As a long time retailer, I have lived through the highs of the ’90s cigar boom and the current lows of high cigar taxes and encroachment of non smoking laws. Throughout all these periods, one thing has remained the same, the passion for a great smoke. Understanding this, we try to make our retail stores, and now our blog, a haven/retreat for people to escape from their daily stress and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

"Eye" fly safe

With today’s post 9-11 airport security measures, it’s made it difficult for the avid cigar smoker to fly with his or her own cigar accoutrement. I’m sure we have all, at one time or another, fallen victim to the new age ss commonly know to us as the TSA agent. We’ve watched as the Dunhill or Dupont lighter that once belonged to our grandfather gets tossed into a bin ready to be “disposed” of. Or the grimace looks on the face of the uniformed Nazis as they ripped the limited edition Habano Xikar cutter away from our grasps. Yes we know the torment and anger they cause to cigar smokers, who just want to enjoy the pleasures of fine cigar cutting or lighting instrument s. Our cutters and lighters are the slinkys and etch-a-sketchs of our youth. Like a kid rolling his fresh out of the package dump truck on the front lawn, we scour through our humidor to find the perfect cigar to break in our new Lotus torch lighter. With all these new laws that all but jail a forgetful smoker who left his lighter in his carry-on, it’s made it impossible for our toys to travel with us.
Fortunately Atoll Fine Leather Accessories has come to the rescue. With the genius design of “The Eye” punch cutter, Atoll has liberated us from the repression of the airline industry. The stationary blade meets all requirements of TSA regulations and has been deemed fit to carry on board airline cabins.
The stainless steel blade is larger than most punch cutters and delivers a more desirable size punch for the 60 plus ring guage cigars. A spring loaded back piece moves freely up and down to expose and hide the stationary blade. When an inserted cigar pushes against the back piece of the cutter, it exposes the blade and at the same time cuts the cigar as it’s twisted against the cutter. The inside of the blade is inverted to ensure the piece of tobacco that is being disposed of is removed from the cigar every time. Once removed from the cigar a simple push on the back of the cutter pops out the shaving and is ready to use again.
The simplicity of the design is the best part of the cutter. It’s made from a solid piece of brass which has been copper and nickel plated. The end result is a brilliant shimmer that accents your choice of leather ranging from crocodile skin in black to lizard skin in havana. You can also find a wide variety of cigar accessories to exactly match the leather of your cutter.
“The Eye” has been TSA approved and even comes with its endorsement. As an added measure of security Atoll has guaranteed that if any agent confiscates your “The Eye” cutter, just return to your authorized Atoll dealer with the badge ID number and the airline you flew from and your “The Eye” cutter will be replaced.
